900 of them last year in Salem and Keizer, Oregon. A population of about 140,000.
Whitney Ferrin, a senior at West Salem High School in Salem, Oregon, decided that she had to do something to help her fellow students.
She founded GIVE A SHIRT – a local-area nonprofit that exists to GIVE HOPE * RESTORE DIGNITY to homeless students in the Salem-Keizer School District.
For every $15 shirt sold (http://igiveashirt.org), $10 will be given to help homeless students get the clothes they need.
Proceeds from shirt sales go directly to help homeless students in need.
