In 1964 Bob Dylan released his third studio album, “Times They Are a-Changin'”. I don’t know about you, but in my world…this is still true (and I wasn’t even born in ’64!).
Deepak Chopra is quoted as saying, “All great changes are preceded by chaos.”
Marilyn Monroe once said, “Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.” That’s what she said. Literally.
I often make the joke that it seems like the world’s gone crazy. Change, flux, chaos, reallocation, realignment, all sorts of other stuff starting with “re-“… The only constant is change. The only consistency is the inconsistency of life. It seems like every time I turn around I hear Joe Pesci’s character in Casino saying, “…in my world, things don’t go so smooth…”
All that is true. But there’s more. I was reminded of something when I was on vacation. The key relationships in my life – those are constant. Those will stick. When it’s all messed up, when everything is flipped around and back to front, when the voices in my head are some sort of jacked up opera… People matter. My people matter.
You know what else is true? Not all change is bad. And even when it is, it gets better. Hang in there. Sit tight. Hold on. Deep breath. Ride it out. Don’t let go. Keep moving forward (nod to Greg Rittler).
